IMPERIAL STOUT HISTORY
As the legend goes, Imperial Stouts were originally made in London to be exported to the Baltic countries and Russia during the late 18th century. The title 'Imperial' came to be when it was supplied to the Russian imperial court of Czarina Catherine the Great.
Today, we use the term 'Imperial' for many different beers, usually representing a higher than usual ABV.
